Making hot air balloons with the grade 1/2s

Today i was working with the grade 1/2s helping them to finish the their hot air balloons. Due to some uni commitments i had missed the last class with both classes of the 1/2's and they where all very happy to see me which was quite nice.

To make the hot air balloons the kids had cut out to big circles of paper and decorated each piece on one side, this week the head to cut out and fold the basket as well as stapling and stuffing the balloon with paper. Then once the the basket had been folded and glued, the kids needed to come to Tracey or myself to help staple up the rest of the balloon and help them tie the basket to the balloon with four pieces of gold string and tape.

During this class i was i was helping the kids staple their balloons and stapling the tops of the balloons to seal them, as well has helping them fold the baskets and glue them correctly and also tying the string and gluing the basket to connect with the balloon. Both classes where very very busy but it made the time go quick and i got a good feel of what being an art room teacher was all about. I also help set up the class, clean up and displayed the children's hot air balloon once all where complete, they are now hanging beautifully from the art room roof.
